Just a quick observation. Maybe a parallel?

Millie had to support a cross-dressed-up man refuting the reality twice.

Both times she tried so hard to help and play along with . . . perfect investigations or . . . chasing ghosts. Both things phantom, non-existent, not necessary really.

Both times she had her own needs to meet and they've got ignored. Whether it was recognition of her strengths or bills to pay.

And both times she snapped.

Both times it ended well . . . even though this is the place where things are a tad different.

Conclusion? I have no idea. Millie being an embodiment of an eldest daughter syndrome?

SPOILER ALERT OF HELLUVA BOSS S2 E5!!!!!

Fiest off, just wanna say that this episode gave me a little more insight on both Moxxie and Millie's character, especially their relationship

This proves that every relationship, especially when you're married, will have some disagreements and lash out at times. This is their flaws, and they can overcome it together, as how any partner would do 💖

AND WE FINALLY MEET BARBIE WIRE AAAHHHH!!!!!!

AND NOT TO MENTION THAT WE GOT OUR FIRST MILLIE SOLO!!!!!!!!! (can't forget about Moxxie hehe)

Last but not least, the end scene just caught me off guard 😔

Blitzø still loves his sister (I can see him being the younger twin) ❤️

as much as I could sit here and rant about how much I hate Unhappy Campers, I can't do it without offering how I'd fix it.

Here's how

Rewrite the WHOLE episode. Everything Into the bin.

So instead of blitz looking for Barbie, we are going to push that back because they left such a big plot hole it's more powerful than the black hole in my closet.

Change the tone of the episode. The episode obviously wanted to be more serious but it ended up being more cringe and 'everything is a joke' I wonder who to blame for that..... *Looks at Viv*

ANYWAH.

Start of the episode starts at the I.M.P hq, random client being like 'hey kill this fucker' and blitz sending M and M off to go do it. They will not be seen until the end of the episode.

Because Stolas is royalty and , blitz can't go check on him (and he can't because he isn't family.)

So blitz attempts to break into the hospital, only to find out Stolas has already checked out because he healed very well. Blitz goes to go find the sucker in his castle thingy in wrath, running into Stella on the way there. Que angry awkwardness, and Stella threatening blitz's life if he tried to ever step in that place again.

Blitz decides to try and sneak into Stolas' bedroom from below his balcony, only to fail, alerting Stolas from within.

We get a scene from Rapunzel before Stolas helps Blitz up.

Que emotional moment of Blitz showing real vulnerability and worry about Stolas getting hurt. No jokes in this scene in any way, yes this is important because that's what ruins a lot of emotional scenes in Helluva Boss.

Stolas seems like he has something to say to blitz as blitz prepares to leave, but holds his tongue, scared to ruin whatever they have left of their broken relationship. Blitz, a little out of the blue, apologizes to blitz, probably for Ozzie's. Stolas will remember that lol.

Blitz goes back to IMP headquarters where Moxxie and Millie successfully did the mission. They also tell him that there was another demon who tried to stop them from killing the target, saying the imp looked similar to blitz, even with the same symbol on the forehead. Barbie.

And then it cuts to the outro.

When indecisiveness puts you between two fires and you get burned.

So, I wanted to reblog again a wonderful comparison post from @warblogs17282 about progression of Blitz's moral compass when it comes to taking on contracts, but it somehow became its own thing, so I decided to make a separate post. I suggest you check it out it first to know the context. <3 But as I said, this read is independent.

So I'm here to throw to the pile. Blitz faces the similar choice - whether to call the hit off or not - in Unhappy Campers. And this an interesting one. Hang on with me for a sec.

Despite Barbie Wire clearly saying the guy works for her, Blitz at first acts snarky about it.

Then, she explains that the target is her supplier. And look. Blitz holds Moxxie back. He lets her speak. The only time he talks back is when he assumes Barbie's on drugs again.

But, before we get to hear Blitz's opinion on this, the situation escalates. Also, apparently demon eyes glow in human disguise too? Or at least when they're emotional.

And they start fighting. 'They' being . . . Moxxie and Barbie. Moxxie attacks Barb, Barb throws Moxxie into the water.

Barbie calls Blitz out. Asking him - again, clear as day - to stay away from this. To back down. To give up the hit.

But Blitz . . . stays silent. He chooses not to act.

And before he says anything, Moxxie gets out of the water, it grows into a full-blown fight, leaving no room for negotiation.

There's a very interesting detail. While Blitz was dragged into this too, the only thing he does is to keep away his sister and his friend from each others' throats. He doesn't favor any side here. Just trying to keep everyone alive.

It's better to watch the fight for yourselves, but here are some highlights.

Separates them.

Drags Barb back when she gets an upper hand.

Doesn't reciprocate when he gets attacked himself.

Even shoves the target out of the way to save him from Moxxie's knife. Holds Moxxie from lurching onto the kid.

This last fact got me thinking that he might've silently decided to stand with Barb or at the very least, get the things to cool down so they can talk it out.

Unfortunately, a stray firecracker puts an end to this.

We know how it unfolds after. Barbie Wire blames Blitz for everything and leaves, asking he never seeks her again. Ever.

So what's interesting here, in the context of Blitz progressing from "we're ruining a family" (Murder Family) to "not this one, Mills" (Sinsmas)?

It's the middle of it:

he does question whether they need to proceed with the hit;

his only goal is to keep everyone alive - including the kid;

yet, this is not enough; his actions aren't decisive enough.

In the end, if he did the same thing as in Sinsmas . . .

If he told Moxxie to back down, none of this would've happened.

And he paid dearly for it.

So honestly, I have no idea where people got the idea that Blitz has no lines he wouldn't cross. Guess they just checked out after C.H.E.R.U.B.S.

I watched Sarcastic Chorus’s video on if “Unhappy Campers” fixed Millie or not, and I really liked it, because it actually brought up the giant elephant in the room that the fandom won’t acknowledge. While this episode certainly does have Millie in it and we actually get to see her vulnerable about herself for once, she still was attached to Moxxie, and at the end of the day, he was the one who got more focus, with the episodes plot being more about him and his journey.

It was Moxxie who was put in charge of the investigation and planned for him and Millie to dress up as brother and sister to eliminate suspects. It was Moxxie who wanted to show his worth to Blitz in that he could handle a job. It was Moxxie who tried to bond with the kids but ended up being made fun of and making him insecure. It was Moxxie who ended up getting jealous at Millie for all the fame but couldn’t snag the attention no matter how he tried, and also couldn’t find the suspect. It was Moxxie who ended up snapping at her, but needed to realize in the end that he was a being a dick. It was Moxxie who had the character focus and growth to change his actions at the end of the episode.

Millie for the most part, did what she always did, stood by at Moxxie’s side and supported him. She may have finally got a song, but most of it was fluff and just animation eye candy, showing off her skills, something the audience already knew she was good at. I don’t think fans realize this, but the argument scene she has with Moxxie is legit the ONLY scene in the entire episode where she’s in the spotlight that actually has to do with her character, because the rest was focused on Moxxie at the front. Not that there’s something entirely wrong with that, but it is the bare minimum, especially since what fans want is her to be purely the focus and not just trotting along with another character.

Her feeling happy for once that others aren’t screaming in agony at her is one thing, it could actually make sense and I wouldn’t find it hard to believe, however as everyone else keeps saying, her randomly spewing about how she finally feels like she’s important and “something to be proud of” makes no sense within the narrative, because Millie has always been a strong killing machine, painted as a really good assassin with her family, Blitz, AND Moxxie praising her. She legit has no reason to feel like she isn’t important or something to not be proud of, because she’s always been portrayed as really strong, saving Moxxie millions of times and helping the IMP gang out. And for all the audience has seen and knows, she’s very happy go lucky and loves her job, her co workers, and her family, so this small bit of character exploration feels half assed, unearned, and not thought through.

Finally, the most funny thing about this episode is that Moxxie needs to learn to let Millie shine since she always supports him, and yet the writers struggle with that themselves. Even when Millie finally does have her “big moment” that she was talking about, it’s just an anime montage of her doing stunts and playing the guitar, while the ACTUAL plot of Moxxie trying to kill the target and fighting Barbie is going on at the front, and even ends with the target dying before cutting back to hell later. Millie doesn’t even get any lines, how nice would it have been to see more…like what if she felt bad for her fans since she’s never coming back, or what if she looks through the pictures of her phone of the camp friends she made and wishes she still had that? Feeling sentimental? For Pete’s sake, you’d think after spewing about how much she feels like she isn’t valued, Blitz and Moxxie would confront her in the end and we’d have some heart felt scene of them reassuring her they care and her deciding to be more open. We get none of that, it’s not only wrapped up so quickly, but ends with Moxxie himself, getting the credit from Blitz he wanted, only to end on an unfunny joke of Blitz calling him a disgrace before the credits roll, so we legit close out on Moxxie and Blitz instead of Millie herself.

Putting the bad writing aside, “Unhappy Campers” definitely didn’t fix Millie’s lack of depth and focus, but I would say it’s a small start, wether the writing is dog shit or not, and wether we had to wait this damn long for crumbs or not. At the end of the day, this episode in my opinion opens more of a door to more potential on actually fleshing Millie out….but I do have my doubts, as not only do we have to wait until season 3 for Millie to get the focus again, but Viv and Adam really do make it clear that they have no idea on how to flesh Millie out without attaching her to Moxxie, since the upcoming ghost demon episode has her trying to off herself because she feels like she’s holding him back and a bad wife. I’d say I hope she gets more in the future, but I’m done believing in Viv and Adam. For Millie to work, I feel like she just needs new writers man, cause these writers clearly don’t care for her enough to put the work in and flesh her out and focus on her, bc they suffer from biased favoritism regarding the other characters. Millie will always deserve better and I honestly don’t think it’ll get better for her from here on out. Someone take the rights for her out of Viv and Adam’s grasp and give her the attention and development she deserves lol.

well barbie and blitzo’s interactions killed me just as i expected, but i just want to talk about this:

we can see that barbie’s mad at blitzo for whatever reason, but something about this scene feels off to me. and i think i’ve pinpointed why

blitzo is no stranger to people being mad at him, in fact it happens in most episodes. of course some people‘s feelings mean more to him, such as maybe m+m, stolas or even fizzarolli, but he doesn’t shy away from defending himself and speaking his mind to even them. he always has some shit to say, and always sticks up for himself in his own blitzo way

but with barbie he doesn’t, he just stares at her with that sad little look of regret on his face. even in this scene:

blitzo recoils away from barbie. doesn’t defend himself. doesn’t argue with her. just recoils.

blitzo obviously feels shame and regret over whatever has happened between him and barbie, otherwise he would’ve stuck up for himself. however i also think he views barbie as completely innocent and out of the wrong regarding whatever happened, instead possibly blaming himself, due to one thing:

barbie was never in blitzo’s bad trip. striker, fizz, verosika, moxxie and stolas were, but not barbie. all of these people he views negatively (or has previously viewed somewhat negatively in moxxie’s and stolas’ case) but barbie is no where to be seen. obviously something has happened in the past with her as with the others, but unlike them he can’t bring himself to hate her for it

edit: just gonna throw it out there that blitzo recoils when barbie presses their mother’s choker. make of that what you will

in fact now that i've had a chance to rewatch and think about the episode more i'm actually losing my mind. we have never, in the entire show, seen blitz actually go OUT OF HIS WAY for ANY relationship. sure, we saw him open up a bit to moxxie in 'truth seekers,' but that was only a bit and only after a severe truth-gas induced hallucination; he has feelings for stolas but even when he does invite him out it's under completely false pretenses - the only relationship we see him put any real effort into is with Loona, and even then, it's not really him going out of his way since Loona is his adopted daughter and is almost always around, and his attempts at fostering a relationship with her are almost exclusively him showering her with affection, rather than any actual attempts at emotional intimacy (not a criticism, just an observation).

but blitz is not only going out of his way to find barbie, he is desperate to make her life better. at the end of 'unhappy campers,' he is insisting that he wants to help her; practically begging her to let him help her. he is breaking into medical centers (apparently, regularly enough that he has a hostile relationship with one specific nurse who recognizes him and already knows what he's there for and what he's trying to do), making calls and threatening people and doing WHATEVER he has to to find her - to not only offer to help her, but just to see her. to have dinner and catch up.

and that is FASCINATING to me, it is making me fucking insane. i've talked about this before but what stands out to me most from the 'truth seekers' hallucination is that blitz thinks he actively makes people worse by being with them. it's heavily implied in the way that verosika is covered in grime and muck that doesn't come off the way it did striker and fizz (i'd argue it's because they both seem to not be dragged down by him, though verosika makes it clear in 'ozzie's' that she was deeply hurt by blitz and still resents him for breaking her heart), and it's also implied within his idolization of stolas - on his beautiful gold and ivory throne, where his presence is enough to turn all of blitz's mud and filth into sparkling light

but barbie doesn't appear in the hallucination. fizz does, and he was from the circus days. striker does, and he and blitz barely have a relationship outside of meta character themes and foils. verosika does, and even though their relationship is implied to have been mutually toxic, she is still very overtly somebody that blitz hurt. he ruined things between them and hurt her.

the only real thread between them is that everyone in that vision, to some extent, is somebody that blitz harbors resentment for. he resents fizz and striker for being everything he isn't or couldn't be - either as a performer or as an assassin - he resents verosika for their relationship, he even to some extent harbors bitterness towards stolas for being so out of touch (and for the fact that blitz has feelings for him at all).

but he doesn't hate barbie. he doesn't even seem to be mad at her at all; the only thing he's upset about is that she didn't try to reach out to him. blitz, who is convinced with his whole chest that he only knows how to hurt people and drag them down, who has burned every bridge to his past for better or worse, spends a whole week going on a one-man rampage to find his twin sister and then asks her to let him help her. i'm going to be fucking sick
